Dr. Alcalde is a Board Certified Surgeon and Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery specialized in the treatment of patients with dentofacial deformities and facial reconstructive needs. He lectures and teaches courses at national and international level and has made numerous contributions to surgical textbooks and scientific journals.
After completing his dental education at the Universidad Central de Venezuela, Dr. Alcalde received his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training in Japan, The Netherlands and the US.
Upon completion of his residency, he joined the faculty and became full-time Attending Surgeon at the University of Washington, Seattle with an active clinical practice in different aspects of Surgical Orthodontics (Orthognathic Surgery and skeletal anchorage for orthodontics), Preprosthetic Surgery (Jaw reconstruction and dental implants) and Sleep Apnea Surgery. He participated in the teaching of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontic and Prosthodontic Residents at University of Washington. After his extensive surgical training and academic career, he relocated his practice in South Florida where his main goal is to provide total quality care in the clinical & surgical management of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery patients needing surgical orthodontic, implant, facial reconstructive, and dentoalveolar procedures.
